Frequently Asked Questions
Around two and a half to three hours each way, with a rest stop halfway. The final section from Livadia up to Arachova is a mountain road with steady curves, so if you are prone to travel sickness ask for a seat near the front and take your medication before boarding rather than en route.
The sanctuary is built on a steep slope. From the entrance to the stadium is roughly 150 metres of climbing on stone paths and irregular steps, and there is no railing in places. The theatre is the natural turning point if you would rather not go all the way up; the museum is flat and air-conditioned.
Very little on the Sacred Way itself, though there are pines around the upper terraces and the museum is cool. We reach the site late morning, so bring water, a hat and sunscreen. On very hot days the guide adapts the pace and takes longer breaks in the shaded sections.
