Themed tours of Turkey: religious, culinary, archaeological and photographic

The reference religious tour of Turkey is the Seven Churches of Revelation: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamon, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea, with the House of the Virgin Mary at Ephesus and, for most groups, Cappadocia and its rock-cut churches as the closing chapter. The reference programme is Seven Churches of Revelation, 9 days, which follows that order and adds Pamukkale and Hierapolis, next to Laodicea.

What changes in the operation of a faith trip:

• The guide is licensed and Spanish- or English-speaking, authorised to work in Turkey, and explains each site in its historical and biblical context.
• The programme does not include spiritual assistance, religious services or the booking of places of worship. If the group travels with its own priest or pastor, say so in the request so that we can review what is possible at each site.
• Several sites are small or in rural areas (Thyatira, Philadelphia, Sardis), without infrastructure for large groups; the size of the coach and the meal times are planned with that in mind.
• Entrance tickets to the sites in the itinerary are included; the opening hours and weekly closing days decided by each site set the order of the route.

A culinary trip through Turkey is built around the regional cuisines: the markets and meals of Istanbul as an introduction and then the stages of Anatolia where the cooking changes with each province. The reference programme is the Anatolia food and culinary route, 6 days, a private programme quoted to order whose stages are adjusted to the group.

What changes in the operation:

• The meals are the programme. They are marked day by day as themed meals — a market lunch, a regional-cooking dinner — rather than the group menu of a classic tour. Drinks stay outside the base unless the client asks to include them.
• Markets are visited when they are working, usually in the morning; the order of the day is decided by the markets, not by the monuments.
• Diets and allergies weigh more than in any other format: send dietary needs with the passenger list and the proposal will state which meals can be adapted and which cannot.
• The licensed guide accompanies the visits and the meals; when the group travels with its own chef or teacher, the guide handles logistics and interpreting, and the programme reserves the working time the group needs.

Turkey has sites for several different archaeological trips, and the thread decides which one. Hittite and Neolithic Anatolia — Gordion, Hattusa and Yazılıkaya, Çatalhöyük, the Zeugma mosaics — has Hattusa, Gordion and Çatalhöyük: 9-day tour as its reference. The southeast, with Göbeklitepe, Harran and Nemrut, has Istanbul and Southeast Anatolia, 7 days.

What changes in the operation:

• Time per site doubles compared with a classic tour, and the programme is ordered by the opening hours and weekly closing days of each museum and site, which differ between summer and winter.
• Who guides. The guide is licensed, authorised to work in Turkey and Spanish- or English-speaking. When the group travels with its own archaeologist or lecturer, the licensed guide handles logistics, tickets and access, and the specialist handles the explanation; say so in the request so that the time at each site can be sized.
• Distances and terrain. Hattusa, Çatalhöyük or Nemrut are far from the usual routes: long road days, early starts, intense heat in the southeast between June and September and access to the summit of Nemrut closed by snow between late autumn and spring. The proposal says so date by date.

We do not organise photography workshops: the photographer leading the group does that. What we operate is the destination side of that workshop: the vehicle that leaves the hotel at five in the morning to reach the Cappadocia viewpoint before the balloons take off, the licensed guide who solves access, the hotel close to where the shooting happens, the meals moved to the hours when the light is of no interest and the transfers between stages.

What changes in the operation:

• The light sets the timetable. Departures before dawn and sessions at dusk, with the rest in the middle of the day; the driver and the guide are booked for those hours and the programme says so explicitly.
• A vehicle with room for the group's equipment; the type is assigned according to the number of passengers and the volume of gear.
• Access. The licensed guide handles the tickets and knows the hours of each place; at religious sites and where people are photographed, the guide says what is possible and what is not.

A themed trip is quoted net to the agency, with the day-by-day programme ordered by the theme, the services included and not included, the net price per person in a double room, the single supplement and the payment and cancellation terms. For a group, the answer arrives within 72 business hours from the moment we have the complete details; for a couple or a family travelling privately, within 24.

Besides the details of any quotation — passengers, dates, hotel category, guide language, meal plan, airports — a themed trip needs:

• The theme and the must-see places, in order of importance, so that the programme sacrifices the accessory and not the essential.
• Who accompanies the group: priest or pastor, chef or teacher, archaeologist, photographer. It changes the division of tasks with the licensed guide.
• The time wanted at each site, if known; a working visit does not last as long as a sightseeing visit.
• Sessions or workshops the group plans.

Requests go through the quotation form, by e-mail or by WhatsApp. The commercial terms are the ones published on the agents page: 30% deposit at confirmation, 70% balance no later than 31 days before departure and a cancellation scale of 25%, 50% and 100% depending on notice; for a group, reductions in places follow the same scale.
